DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
Broken Promises displays a few themes that are very important to me. Family and the loyalty that comes with it is the first. No matter where you stand with your family, loyalty is first and foremost. Sacrifice and responsibility are another theme. I hope to give a visual into the sacrifice that comes with responsibility through this film. Morality is the third theme. What does it take for you to rethink your morals? We see all of these themes and the struggles they bring through the lens of Ralph, the protagonist who has to sift his way through tough times.
The inspiration for this film came from the theme that there is so much more that makes up a person than meets the eye. The character of Ralph is supposed to portray that in every way. His choices and responses to problems are heavily influenced by his past experiences and current situation. There is so much that can shape a person, it is impossible to understand it all. However, I hope this film will help people look at the world a little differently and maybe treat others with a little more kindness.
